A couple of months ago, Candice reached out to me to purchase a gift certificate for her mom. Her and her brother, Cody, wanted to surprise their mother with a grandkids + grandma photoshoot. I thought this was such a cute idea! The best present ever. We talked over some ideas, but mostly it was very casual. With baseball practices, tournaments, and school in the way, it felt nearly impossible to schedule. Fast forward 4 months later, we finally got back into the swing of things and jotted down a date. It was so much fun and the pictures turned out so sweet. I am already planning my own photo shoots of my child with his grandparents!

Then I started thinking, if I want to do this so bad for myself, I bet others would love the opportunity as well. So I have decided to do Grandparents Day mini sessions!

I'm thinking on what I should do and I hope to have all the plans and dates figured out soon. I really want to capture the sentimental or just plain fun so we can truly capture real, genuine moments.

It was such a great afternoon well spent with the Madere / Robinson siblings with their grandmother, Sue. Looking forward to more like this!

Hi, I'm Jireh! We were suppose to photograph right after he was born but due to his milk allergy, we had to postpone it to a later date. But it's ok! Another baby close to making the ONE MONTH mark but we made it work out! Babies closer to the 1 month mark doesn't quite like to be swaddled. They tend to be more alert; super nosey if you ask me! I have been getting lost of inquiries for maternity/newborn sessions for those mom’s expecting late 2021 and early 2022. Most start off their message with “I am very early still and haven’t announced yet but wanted to reach out to you because I know you book up fast”.

I always tell my clients and anyone that asks, it is best to get secured in before I reach my capacity for that specific month. I book 5 newborns per month. I also leave open spaces in my agenda to keep it flexible for when baby decides to make their arrival earthbound. (For clients living an hour or two hours away, we actually have to SET a date a few days after your expecting due date so we can plan our travel and stay.)

So if you are expecting and are in your first trimester, start looking around to find the newborn photography that is your best fit and get secured in. We photographers find JOY in capturing moments for your family that it kills us when we have to say “fully booked” to a family because they waited too long to secure a session.

NEWBORN PHOTOGRAPHY

My newborn sessions focus on the family interaction and connection in your family when you bring your baby home. My sessions are in your home, relaxed, time efficient, and they result in a gallery full of beautiful moments captured that tell the story of this time. I practice what I call natural "Baby Led Posing." This means that I don't ever put a baby in a flower pot. :) I think babies are beautiful as they are. The natural unfolding of a newborn's limbs when the stretch, the way they curl up when placed on their belly for a moment, the way they look when cozily swaddled, all of that is so simple and beautiful to me. This is how I remember my babies, and that is how I photograph them.

Lifestyle newborn sessions take place in the comfort of your home and tell the story of your family in a natural and relaxed way. Your session will document the beauty and connection of the immediate family in this incredibly sweet time of life. Newborn sessions feature the newborn and his or her immediate family and usually last around two hours.

I want you to have your images, simple. They will be full resolution and you can choose to print through my lab, or at any lab of your choosing. You have a choice between my lifestyle newborn, my full newborn package, or a package of sessions to include maternity and milestone sessions like 6 months and 1 year photos + cake smash. My style of photography results in a collection of photos that tells your story at this moment, and speaks to your family’s unique beauty and connection.

The fated encounter starts with a phone call to an establishment we all know and love called, Moon Wok. Which is located on the corner of Dauphine & St. Ann inside a little but well known area called the French Quarter. While picking up a meal that would change her life, Cristian Barrios noticed the handsome smile and generous mannerism of the gentleman behind the counter. That man's name is ThaiBao Vu. After leaving the establishment, Cristian couldn't get ThaiBao's smile out of her mind. She decided to call the restaurant. When she did, she asked to speak to the fellow who just rang her up. Doing something completely out of the ordinary for her; Cristian said, "Get a pen and paper ready. Write this down." She then proceeded to give him her name and number. Ending the conversation with an awkward, "You don't have too call or text, but it would be great. K bye." Later that night, ThaiBao did indeed message her and their courtship began. Spending around 4 years growing and learning from each other, ThaiBao proposed around June of 2019. A mere 5 years later on the 5th of December 2020, the two will be wed.

When I was planning my mini sessions this year I had many ideas because I have a little one of my own, and mini sessions are super short and hassle free for both parents and child. This past May, I started to offer "porch mini session" because of what's been going on and I am still offering them for everyone. You’re probably thinking ‘our yard looks terrible’, ‘we don’t have a porch, it’s more of a stoop’, ‘I’ll need to landscape’. No. No you absolutely do not need to do that. Over the past few years I’ve found that most people are more comfortable being photographed in the comfort of their own homes, whether we are on their couch or in the yard. Dads and children especially. So when everyone is comfortable and happy, the only thing that anyone will focus on are the laughs and emotion during that time. I got this. Your landscape don't need to be pretty, your yard don't need to look perfect. Let me find the perfect areas around your house while I capture the moment. What a great session this was. We had such an excellent time with the Nguyen family, shooting their family portraits! We took them down to our favorite City Park spot, with the scenic bridge and the tree view in the background. The light was beautiful! We adore those sister photos, daddy and son, mommy and her daughters, and uncle and nephew photos! They obviously have so much love for each other.

We love getting these lifestyle photography shots, where we capture the natural interaction between the individual family members! There are smiles and fun time we have as well. The Nguyens were natural at it all. How sweet is this family?

Melinda & Grace Mommy and Me

Motherhood is such a wonderful job and gift. Being a mommy is the best thing many of us will get to do. We love these little beings with all of our hearts and souls and it deserves to be documented. I have had the desire to capture this love in a pure and simple way. As moms we are typically the ones HOLDING the camera, therefore we are rarely IN photos. But let me tell you, your kids will appreciate you stepping out of your comfort zone to capture your connection at this age. It’s not always glamorous, it’s exhausting physically and mentally, but it is the best work we will ever do. Here are some favorites from last week with Melinda and Grace. My favorite part is that you can really see the love, bond, and affection. There is not a lot of looking and smiling at the camera and that is beautiful! I am happy to do these anytime for you. The make a great gift (Mother’s Day is coming up, so start dropping hints!) These photos are taken in the early morning or evening time.

From newborn to first year, to documenting their family portraits, I've photographed quite a few sessions for them already, and I love watching Liam and Sophie grow! I really love watching this young guy grow up, especially now that I have my own little boy of my own. He was so fun to photograph–full of spunk, mischief, and not really quite certain that he wanted to be playing during a family photography session! Luckily the realization that he absolutely did not want to be photographed didn’t set in until after we learned that - "ROARRRR" makes him giggle. Running around, throwing leaves, and just being a boy…I love it all. And his little sister, timid, don't know what the heck his brother is doing, just smiling through it all. I just love her outfit! He is such a little cutie! I must say, these three were so much fun to work with. Just reminds myself why I love what I do. Photography for me is more than just clicking a button, it is capturing life's most important moments. The smile of a husband looking into his wife's eyes and remembering all the reasons they fell in love. The smile of a mother or father when they look at their child and cannot quite imagine how they became so blessed to call that sweet child their own.

From San Diego California to New Orleans Louisiana! Tina and Harry wanted to scratch off their bucket list by visiting New Orleans to experience their first Mardi Gras parades. They were searching for a photographer too to document their 2nd pregnancy! I'm glad we got to connect and was able to capture this special time for her and her growing family! It was soooo much fun! We went to the French Quarter bright and early in the morning then drove to City Park to finish off our session! Tina also dressed up as Snow White and I thought that was the cutest idea ever! Like, how often do you have clients that think of these cute ideas? She had her attire and everything to the T. Then, we thought, OHHHHH Story Land had a perfect place for these type of photos! It was such an adventure that day, I really hope Tina and her hubby enjoyed their experience as much as I enjoyed photographing them!

A: Neutrals and pastels are a great choice, and you can never go wrong with clothing styles that are simple and classic.

Q: How long will it take to receive my photos?
A: I will send you a link to download your digital files within two week (or sooner) of your session. If you are in a hurry and need them sooner for gifts, please let me know and I will do my best to accommodate you.

Q: What happens if it rains?
A: If it rains, I will contact you for the rescheduled your mini session date.

Lifestyle newborn sessions have recently been added to our list of services for clients. So many of my families really love the idea of being in their own home, surrounded with their own things they love for their newborn sessions. Lifestyle or in-home sessions are great for families that have older siblings, especially toddlers, that might feel more comfortable in their own home rather than in a long 3-hr posed newborn session. At home, they can share their toys, read to their new sibling, and take a break to play when they are overstimulated with pictures. Families are also loving being able to include their pets in the session as well. After all, they are part of the family too!

FAQ

Q: What should we wear?

A: Neutrals and pastels are a great choice, and you can never go wrong with clothing styles that are simple and classic.

Q: I’m pregnant and just want a few quick maternity photos. Can I do that with an Easter mini?

A: Yes you can! Sometimes all you want is to document this special time with a few sweet images, and I am happy to do that with an Easter mini.

Q: How long will it take to receive my photos?
A: I will send you a link to download your digital files within one week (or sooner) of your session. If you are in a hurry and need them sooner for Easter gifts, please let me know and I will do my best to accommodate you.

Q: How many kids can I bring on the set?
A: Since the set is relatively small, I recommend 2 children, 3 at most, but 2 children is ideal.

Q: I don't want my child to be by himself/herself, can mom or dad hop in the photos too?
A: Yes of course.

Q: My son/daughter cannot sit up yet, do you have something that can prop him/her?
A: Yes, I do.

Q: What happens if it rains?
A: If it rains, I will contact you for the rescheduled session date.

I seriously had a blast with her! Haley seemed so comfortable and at ease in her role as soon to be mommy. She wears pregnancy so beautifully! Just look at her - isn't she stunning? We’re doing things a bit differently this year, so be sure to read through all the details about signing up! We would would love for you to join us!

$150 includes a 30 minute session with me, Brooke Nguyen, 15 high resolution images with the rights to print and the option to purchase the FULL gallery for an additional $100. You’ll have a private online gallery for 2 weeks to review, select and download your 15 included images. All sessions are reserved on a first-come, first-serve basis. Please call or e-mail to reserve your session date. All mini sessions are NON-REFUNDABLE and NON-TRANSFERABLE due to the limited availability and high demand on our mini session dates. If it rains, the back up date will be the following day. We will allow you to bring up to 8 people to your mini session. The mini session will be valid in May - June. It can be used for family, mommy/me, children (lifestyle), maternity, senior, and couples.

The Vu's Family Session

The Vu's Family! The completed FOUR! John and Kate have supported me from the beginning. My first 48-hour hospital session and my very first newborn session. Then came along three years later, they added another addition to the family. As the past few years gone by, I've noticed lots of change through my photography. Everything takes time, everything is a process. It's been a long journey with the Vu's and I'm sure it isn't over! There are so many more memories to capture with these two little ones! When you're expecting twins that's .... That's TWICE as exciting! Adjusting to life with one baby is a lot... I cannot imagine DOUBLING that! A family of THREE, to a family of FIVEEEE!

I love to photograph twin newborn sessions. It is so precious to me to see how attached to each other these tiny people already are. It really is quite amazing. These two little boys were no different. They were calmest when near each other and made a fuss when we separated them. A little behind their love story from Thy “Good thing for messaging apps that allowed us to text internationally or how else would Gui put his mack on me all the way from China? When he returned from his trip, he says I was the first person he wanted to see and I showed up at the old Baskin Robbins in the middle of the night, all beaten (or "natural" as he says), showing off all of my chigger scars I got in the mountains of southern Mexico. I don't know how long we talked for but we made that one hot cup of tea last til it was cold. By the time I left for Vietnam, we were use to spending half of our time apart and the better half finding excuses to text our good mornings/goodnights or just to meet up over coffee because I "refused to go on dates."
I count my blessings everyday - having us meet, being and now staying a part of one another's lives... I count our friendship & marriage being one of my favorites of all.”

Dudley's 1st Birthday + The Giang's Family Session

Meet the Morlier and Giang family! We tell no lie that every smile in every photo is completely genuine. The very first time I photographed Baby Dudley, it was H-A-R-D! It was hard because the very first time meeting Dudley, he was super shy and only wanted his stuffed animal and snacks. Little did I know, the second time around, he was all smile! (Because we had the grandparents and made sure we brought out his stuff animals and toys!) Haha. When Mama Morlier asked me if I can squeeze in a session after Chinese New Years, I thought... why not? This would be fun! Exploring the area around Jackson Square and Saint Louis Cathedral for a more urban feel was also a nice treat! Carnival season, Chinese New Years, and lots of love between this family.. Congratulations to Kimmy and Tinh on the new addition! In-home sessions are definitely a favorite of mine and I always feel so honored when clients invite me into their home to document the new addition to their family! It's so special to document a milestone that is exciting for everyone! I also included a few of my favorite shots from their maternity session back in December 2017. This sweet family, The Bui's, were such a dream to photograph and I hope they will cherish these memories for years to come!

Tyler and Brittany - ENGAGED!

Congratulations to Tyler and Brittany on their engagement! They are the sweetest couple. Both Tyler and Brittany came all the way from New York. It was their first time in New Orleans, Louisiana. I photographed the surprise proposal at Race and Religious. Here are my favorites from their session. We did a mini engagement shoot after the surprise proposal.

Tyler and Brittany met 10 YEARSSSS AGO! They met during an Italy trip during their Sophomore year of high school. (Can you believe it? 10 years ago? Whoa!)

Brittany said:

"On the last day of the trip, Tyler started throwing pebbles at me on a beach in Sicily. We talked the whole 7-hour plane ride on the way back to New York and began dating a few months later..." Cute right? Hehehe!
